Golem (female), from Quixote's Dream

Golem (female), from Quixote’s Dream for Fantasy Faire 2013

Quixote’s Dream has a couple of interesting packages set out as Fantasy Faire 2013 donation items. These are full avatars including a shape, skin, eyes, and outfit. No hairstyle is required, trust me on this, but you can add your favourite to the Golem avatar if you wish.

The first is a traditionally sized Golem avatar that includes everything you need to terrorize your local village.  The second is also a Golem mesh avatar, but this one is gargantuan! It comes in two basic sizes (with variable sizes depending on your personal needs): 2X and 3X a normal avatar size. It’s difficult to show the scale of these avatars in a photo, I tried. Fortunately, there are demos available for you to try out. Wearing the  colossi Golem avatar you will get attention, people will ask questions, and you will have a hard time fitting inside a traditionally sized house.

Now go out there and frighten a few villagers.

Details

  • Golem (female), from Quixote’s Dream. Includes the skin, eyes, and clothes, and a shape (The shape used in this picture is my own).
  •  Preen – Black/Purple Tip hairstyle, from The Stringer Mausoleum
  • Pose from Musa
  • Hand Fireball from C&D Designs. Not sure if these are still available.

Top photo was taken on location at Wonder Oaks.

The Stringer Mausoleum is, dare I say, a household name in goth and alternative circles. TSM, which has been selling wonderfully different hairstyles in SL as long as I can remember, has grown into a multi-level feast for your alternative eyes on its own sim that includes a few other quirky shops.

The Stringer Mausoleum is participating in Hair Fair 2010, and has some new styles for you to check out. Yes, you heard that correctly:  NEW styles.

Robo Bambie (above and below) is a cute futuristic style that coordinates with a cute robo accessory, which I’ve shown below. But just because it’s futuristic in feel doesn’t mean you can’t go full-out goth with it.

Helena Stringer, designer and owner of The Stringer Mausoleum, has set out five new styles at Hair Fair 2010, with 2 of the styles being 50% donation items. When you purchase these products, 50% of the purchase price goes to Wigs4Kids. Yes! Great styles for you, and money to help kids battling cancer.. how cool is that? One of the donation items is a men’s style, but it, along with most of TSM’s products, is unisex.

Bonzi (shown above) is one of those styles that looks great on men or women. This mohawk moves! It’s flexi and sways softly as you move; a wonderful effect for merfolk. Horns show above are not included, but are a past gift from TSM.

Pearl Persuasion is a donation item in this exclusive colour version. Half of your purchase price goes to Wigs4Kids. This is the hair style I’ve been looking for to wear while bathing! The pearls look like bubbles piled atop my head. Don’t miss out, this will not be available when Hair Fair 2010 packs up and leaves town.

If you aren’t in the market for new styles, don’t forget that you can always donate via kiosk to Wigs4kids.

I blogged the Lost Mermaid Hunt here to let you know about it.. and there are so many hunts going on right now that I hope you’ve had time to do at least part of it. I knew I’d be busy (festival season is upon us), and I didn’t want to wait until I had time to start the hunt to tell you about it.

But now that things have slowed down (a little), and I’ve got a little free (real life) time, I’ve had time to do a some of the Lost Mermaid Hunt. There are some great gifts in this hunt, and many of them are from some of my favourite mermaid tail designers!

The only problem I can see with this hunt is that I am not going to want to discard anything. I can hear my inventory groaning in protest even as I write this!

I’ve paired these mermaid tails from the Lost Mermaid Hunt with more hairstyles from the Crazy Arse Hair Hunt for some over-the-top oceanic looks.

The hairstyle in the last picture is from the mini-hunt at The Stringer Mausoleum. The mini-hunt featured exclusive re-colours of popular TSM designs. If you want to be in on the next mini-hunt, join the subscribo.

Mermaid Tails and Hairstyles featured, starting at the top:

  1. Flex Lavender-Green Tail from Malaika Mermaids, (TLMH):   Crazy Hair Mohawk from Helter Skelter , (CAHH), Net with fish from Zohee’s Mermaid Designs, (TLMH)
  2. Battenburg Tail from Pisces II (TLMH), Hairstyle from 3636, (CAHH)
  3. Little mermaid tail from pas de Deux (TLMH), hairstyle from Vanity Hair (CAHH)
  4. Mer Glas Tail from aeNigma (TLMH), hairstyle from The Stringer Mausoleum
  5. Testing the Waters tail from TempT (TLMH), hair from The Stringer Mausoleum (mini-hunt)

I’ve been stopping by Vendom lately to try to hit the MM board there, it’s not been getting the attention it deserves lately.. and that makes me sad.

But, on the up-side (because there’s always an up-side), Vendom has a memory game. I love memory games because I have a good visual memory, and the Vendom version includes a too-friggan-cool outfit as the reward for getting the best score.

I am am feeling very Lillith in this sweet lingerie set that includes the horns, tail, wings, and shoes. You can pick up the “In the rain” mohawk  from The Stringer Mausoleum to complete the look. The mohawk is not free, but is worth ever L$ you’ll spend on it.

You can see another fabulous Vendom/TSM pairing here.

Miami Nights

Miami

It’s all about hot nights in the city: dancing the night away, then a cab to Sobe for more partying. And if you’re in a party mood after that you can shoot right up 95 to West Palm Beach and hit the clubs till daybreak.

The jackets in Miami are as short and sleek as the dresses, and you’ll need a jacket, because the a/c is chilly after the short walk from the cab to the club. Grab a short leather jacket from Ibizarre, and pair it with a skin tight dress from Hyper Culture.

Perfect!

Alabama Gamblin’

Alabama

I’m not talking Bingo halls, I’m talking Vegas baby! Or at least the Alabama Gulf coast equivalent. She had a hunch she’d do ok, but she never figured on hitting the big time! The first thing she’s doing after she gets back home is sell the trailer and buy a double wide!

Yeehaw!

The lucky dress she wore on the night of her big win was a Purple Daniela Gown from Marinoco Fashions (she calls it her “lucky” gown now).

A Night at the Opera

Sydney

You can’t go to Sidney without a visit to the famous opera house that overlooks Sydney Harbour. She’d seen The Phantom of the Opera there, and it still creeped her out.. but only a little. You know the kind of creepy I mean: that little chill that starts at the back of your neck and sends a shiver straight down your spine.

A night at the opera is a formal affair, so leave the denims in your closet honey, and grab your best gown. The Hecathes gown, from Miamai, is just the ticket. Throw in necklace and earrings from Dark Monkey, and you’re good to go.

Walk About Albury

Albury

She’d have to admit it’s a bit.. odd. Not everyone goes for a walk in a black and orange catsuit from SD Wears, or pumpkins in their hair, courtesy of JE Republic, but damn.. look how hot she looks! Even the Dingos think she looks absolutely yummy.

The four skins shown above are previews of the GeEs skins that will available only at the 2009 Vanity Universe Skin Fair 07 -22 November, 2009.

Poses used in this post are from TorridWear.

Not the clothes, “Bad, bad” is the title of the piece she’s standing in front of. It’s more a performance piece, and the little bit of what you see behind her is part of the artwork that is the product of the performance piece.

A real work of art

After dealing with her a few times, most people would just shake their heads and mutter, “She’s a real work of art, that one is.”

She took it as a compliment.

Never mind the dead hamster in her hair

She had her own sense of style, that much was certain, and if people wanted to refer to her as a work of art, that was their prerogative.

*TSM* Voodoo Hampster Hairsticks from Helena Stringer, of course. I mean, really, who else would have thought up Voodoo Hampster Hairsticks? Dress is an apple bobbing treat from GPD, and it’s absolutely Delish. Hair is an old gifty from Bishwear, and skin is a new gifty from Ruin.. but you’re gonna have to find it in the Stringer Halloween Hunt.

Bride of Lost Souls, detail

HeidiHo Huet has done it again! She’s given us an amazing gown for absolutely free. HiediHo Huet puts one of her new creations up for grabs every day (except weekends) until 8pm SLT. Today, it’s this amazing gown. Got a goth wedding coming up? This might be the gown you’ve been looking for to celebrate that special day.

Bride of Lost Souls, from Ho Wear

Shown with hair from The Stringer Mausoleum, skin from [the.obscene], and eyes from Vanilla C. Designs.

These give-aways generate a tremendous amount of traffic, if the sim is full keep trying.

The main excuse people give me for not wanting to take advantage of the amazing gifts and prizes that top content designers in SL give us is because “I don’t want to go around looking like everyone else!”

I wear freebies, dollarbies, and cheapies almost exclusively, but I have never been accused of being merely “average”. Trust me on this one: Freebies will not make you look like everyone else.

Shown above is a totally “freebie” Shang, even the cross in the background was a freebie. Most of the items shown are from hunts currently in process, assuming, of course, that you’re reading this post around the time I wrote it.

On Shang:

Skybox with furniture from Patchwork

Audio set is a skybox with furnishings from Patchwork, #51.. and the last destination..  in the hunt.

For more information and a list of locations/hints, visit the Black Keys Hunt official website.

I’ve stalked the lucky chairs at Vendom on occasion to try for one of their great skins.

I have no patience for lucky chairs.. at all.

Fortunately for me, they also have fortune teller chairs, with Vendom’s beautiful Blue Crytsal Demon Skin. While you’re there, check out the Vendom MM board.

bluedance

Sometimes a skin doesn’t need anything but the right hair, and what else would I pair with a skin like this but one of Helena Stringer’s sapphire blue Double Duster. The sculptural nature of the mohawk plays beautifully on this unusual skin.
