I got a note card a few days ago through the BoHo HoBo newsgroup that said something to the effect of, “Come check out the prettiest sewers in Second Life.”

Not knowing what to expect (would you?), I put  the landmark included in my folder of “Things to Check out”.

The lights in this exhibit are beautiful, colourful, whimsical.. they are art.

The pieces exhibited are for sale, they are not inexpensive as furniture, but as artwork for your SL home.. they are priceless. Some things you just can’t put a price on, and something that makes you smile when you see it is cheap by any standard. These make me smile.

This is delightful exhibit, and I highly recommend a visit. trust me, it will make you smile, it will inspire you.

A warning: some of the designs are a bit prim heavy (as many art pieces tend to be), so before you make a purchase, be sure it will fit into the prim limit of your home.

Beautiful and grotesque.
You feel a need to look further, but feel almost a voyeur in doing so.
Sensual, sexual, sublime.

Just see it. Be part of it.

You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into an underwater cavern at the B@re Rose Art Gallery. The theme for this exhibit is Underwater, and I’ve pulled a couple of vintage pieces from my inventory as well as a few in world photos just for this very special exhibit. This is the first time I’ve shown my SL photography in a public gallery in Second Life.

The exhibit runs through the end of February, don’t miss this extraordinary exhibit!

Huntress Catteneo is at it again; she’s got another awesome edition of ArtFest in the works for us.

Once again, Huntress Catteneo is donating the proceeds from ArtFest to charity. Great art from some of Second Life’s most prominent artists (in RL and SL) and charity — what a great combination!

Artists and performers are provided space to display their work free of charge, and ArtFest is open  to all artists: 2D, 3D, established and new, live singers, DJs and performers in general are welcome to showcase their talents.

Businesses are invited to have an advertising spot in the ArtFest II shop for the duration of ArtFest, with 100% cost of the display going straight to charity. There will be lots of traffic, and ArtFest is listed in the Second Life Destination Guide.

Merfolk will be happy to hear that there is a place for you at ArtFest II as well. There are special installations just for mer, be sure to dive below the waves to find these unique pieces of art.

Why ArtFest?

There has been so much happening this year: floods, earthquakes, tsunami, drought, fires, etc, etc. It has been an extremely bad year on the natural front, and the year isn’t even over yet!  Natural disasters take years to recover from, but we tend to forget that people are still in great need and places need rebuilding, often for years after a natural disaster hits.

It’s the season of giving, and we realise that people are being asked to give all over, and many are hurting financially themselves, but who knows if the new year will be better? If every single person contributes just a little bit now, others that are worse off than we are can experience a little joy this holiday season, or maybe just get their feet back on the ground.  While we may not be able to do much individually, together we can move mountains. ArtFest II reminds others we care, because many of the people who will be attending ArtFest II have been touched in some way by the many disasters.

Vote for your favourite pieces by donating to the kiosk beside that piece of art. Artists have the opportunity to win fabulous prises based on your vote, so be sure to donate big when you donate. The artists generating the most donations will win the prizes, but in truth we all win, because all proceeds from ArtFest II will be donated to the Red Cross, an organisation that helps people worldwide. You’ll find donations kiosks scattered throughout the festival, drop a few L$ in one when you visit; someone somewhere will be grateful.

Wow, has it really been a month since my last blog entry?

Real life has been hectic lately, a good thing! But I’ve been missing my friends in Second Life. The times I have been in Second Life lately, I’ve been busy working on a new project: Art for Your Head.

Art for Your Head is currently on display at the prestigious Kelly Yap Gallery, and features several of Second Life’s finest artists. There will be an Opening Party on Saturday September 10, 2011 at 3 pm SL time with a fashion show featuring all the Art for Your Head designs. I’m really nervous about this part!

Here’s the full schedule of events:

  • Sept 8 12noon SLT Voting Begins
  • Sept 10 3 pm SLT Meet the Artists and their Art
  • Sept 30 12 midnight SLT Voting Ends
  • October 3 3-5 PM Closing Party with DJ Solange….5000L Winner Announced!

Every once in a while, I visit a gallery that is so different from others that I feel it deserves a little promotion.

I got a notice through one of the many artist groups I belong to, a notice about a gallery I hadn’t heard of before. I am so glad that I didn’t miss the opportunity to see the work of real life artist Eleanor Medier.

Ms. Medier’s pieces are abstract in nature, with bold, unmixed colours. The shading of the elements in her work is so simple that it doesn’t distract from the messaged conveyed by each piece. Though presented on a grand scale in Second Life, Ms. Medier’s works are tiny in real life. A photo showing their scale is on her gallery wall so that visitor’s can get an idea of the true scale.

The gallery itself, designed by Heavy Writer, features a circular corridor that all galleries should follow. The design invites the visitor to follow the artwork along one wall, then back toward the entrance by following the other wall. It gives on the feeling of being inside a giant Nautilus shell section, as it effortlessly funnels the visitor past each drawing.

The Sylvhara Art Fair is a two week long art show featuring many talented and well known SL Artists from within Sylvhara’s lands, as well as many from outside of Sylvhara who show their art in various galleries and shows in SL.

Along with the established artists, are a few whom have never shown their art in SL, though you may surprisingly find them equally as talented. It is amazing to see the wealth of talent which lies here in these lands!

Artists signed up for the Art Fair include:
Alizarin Goldflake
Arondelle Ladybird
Asmita Duranjaya
Cataplexia Numbers
Flame Jie
JasmineCeara Ellenberg
Kurashi Nansen
Litha Clawtooth
Malakyte Thorne
Mike Chase
Ondine Ninetails
Pak Haedong
Shangreloo Kuhn
Snowblind Infinity
Van Caerndow

The landmark posted above takes you to a central landing point. To get to my display area, simply follow the bouncing red arrow. There will be a closing party on December 6th at The Lion’s Head Pub from 5:00-7:00 PM SLT.

Just for this location, and just for the duration of this show, I have priced my fantasy pieces at 30% off. If you would love to have some original artwork for your home, this is a fantastic time to pick up some original fantasy pieces! All my artwork is transferable, making it a great option for holiday gifting.

Hope to see you at the fair and at the gala reception upon the Fair’s closing!

Now at Dark Draconis Waterfront Gallery are the three Blue pieces.. animated!

These pieces are fully interactive, featuring a “touch” option to animated the textures in the manner you like best. The three translucent panels give each painting a true 3D look that represents moving water. At only 1500L$ each, these pieces are a bargain price for animated artwork!

Please note that Dark Draconis uses a central telehub, just follow the red arrow to the gallery.

Three galleries are currently exhibiting my ink drawings and my abstract paintings.

Yes, I’ve been super busy lately.

Paris Metro Gallery
A showing of selected abstract works. You can see the Blue Series and Skeletals, along with selected Watercolour Shorts.

Check back soon for the date of the opening reception: three floors filled with artwork, music, and champagne! Oh.. and I heard there might be gifts available!

For Art’Sake
This rockin’ gallery is home to For Art’Sake, which is also home to the For Art’Sake Blues Club. Club owner, Stacey Braveheart, has give artists a rare opportunity to exhibit in a club atmosphere, a venue one doesn’t normally associate with the fine arts. And oddly.. it works!

UrbanARTS
As I mentioned in a previous post, this hip gallery is an art lover’s paradise. Some of the brightest up and coming stars in the SL art world are included in this gallery, and I’m humbled to have my work included.

Use the link below, and follow the bouncing red arrow to my gallery.
